For Thomas Farrow, owner-operator of Wellington-based home handyman service, Handyfix, the website is one of his most valuable tools.
All his customer referrals come from people who have looked at the website and he does no other advertising. Thomas got as far as having leaflets printed, but is got so busy he had no time to deliver them. “It’s been great!” Handyfix now has more work than Thomas can handle and he is deciding whether to employ more staff.
“It’s great to have all these options, and the website’s certainly given me those,” he says.
He followed a simple process to launch the website. First he thought up a catchy name - Handyfix - before searching to see whether that (domain name) was available. “And it was really cheap to set up and do,” he adds. Having a .nz website lets people know they are looking at a trusted, New Zealand-based business, he says.
“It’s certainly exceeded all my expectations, that’s for sure.”
